Hutt Valley Community Housing is an initiative of 4 A Better City Charitable Trust. We have a Level Three Social Services accreditation from the Ministry of Social Development, and are a registered Transitional Housing Supplier the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Through our other work in the community we became aware of the urgent need for short-term accommodation in the Hutt Valley area. We also saw the need of greater support of members of our community living in substandard accommodation. Someone to come along side them so that they are equipped to find warm, safe and healthy long term options for them and their families.

After some investigation the Board agreed that we should initially move into providing what HUD call Transitional Housing. Today we manage three houses for men and a growing number of stand-alone houses and flats, suitable for family groups.
